All Fleets Are Eligible for Appreciation Bonuses!
Owner Operators will receive bonuses totaling $1550 for the first 120,000 miles and $2250 every 120,000 mile increment thereafter. Bonuses will be paid to owners in equal installments every 30,000 miles!
Owner Operators - Starting Base Pay OTR with Hazmat = $.91 per Practical mile.
Owner Operator Sign On will be $750 on 1st settlement - Valid 9/28/09 - 11/27/09.
Barr-Nunn Company Drivers receive a $625 Appreciation Bonus for every 120,000 paid miles.
Company Drivers - Starting Base Pay OTR with Hazmat = $.39 per Practical mile.
Company Driver Sign On Bonus is $1,000.00 = $400 on 1st check and $600 after 180 days - valid 11/16/09 - 12/4/09.

Des Moines, Iowa - Barr-Nunn Transportation Receives Fleet Maintenance Award
The Iowa Motor Truck Association recently recognized Barr-Nunn Transportation for their outstanding maintenance operation. Barr-Nunn Transportation was selected from hundreds of carriers and received the honor at the associations recent Management Conference. Through this annual contest, Iowa carriers are recognized for their commitment to maintaining high standards for their maintenance operations. Maintenance is a valued partner in the ongoing safety campaign of a trucking company. Maintaining safe equipment is crucial to ongoing safety efforts of an operation. The Iowa Motor Truck Association and Midwest Wheel Companies are the sponsors of the awards program.
"The objective of this annual contest is to highlight and showcase the trucking companies in the state of Iowa that have demonstrated the commitment needed to operate a quality maintenance program. These winners are setting the standard within the trucking industry in Iowa when it comes to maintenance. We congratulate Barr-Nunn Transportation for this recognition and commend them on their dedication to maintenance," said IMTA President Brenda Neville.
Trucking companies were nominated by vendors, insurance professionals and regulators to be considered for the maintenance award. After a thorough review process, nine companies were selected to receive this honor. A demonstrated commitment to maintenance operations and overall vehicle inspection records were considered in the process. The winners also had to employ qualified maintenance professionals and have an ongoing program to further educate these important employees.

Des Moines, Iowa - Trucking Industry Recognizes Safest Carriers, Barr-Nunn Transportation, Inc. among those carriers
The Iowa Motor Truck Association recently recognized the state's safest carriers at its Annual Management Conference. Through this annual safety contest, Iowa carriers are recognized for their outstanding safety efforts. The number of accident-free miles driven, overall safety ratings and established safety programs within the company are all considered in the contest judging. Officials from the State DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration are involved in the review of all the participants in the judging of the applications. The Iowa Motor Truck Association, Iowa Council of Safety Management and Great West Casualty Company sponsor the contest.
"The objective of this annual safety contest is to highlight and showcase the trucking companies in the State of Iowa that have demonstrated the commitment needed to operate at the highest level of safety at all times. These winners are setting the standard and are the recognized leaders within the trucking industry in Iowa when it comes to safety," IMTA President, Brenda Neville.
This commitment to safety has continued to pay off and the statistics continue to support this theory. Over the past ten years there has been a 24% drop in the large truck fatal crash rate while the miles driven by large trucks has increased by 42%. The 1990s were the safety decade ever as far as the trucking industry was concerned and this trend has continued into the 21st century as well.

The Iowa Motor Truck Association recently named Johnny Thomas a 2009 Iowa Motor Truck Association Outstanding Professional Driver. As a professional truck driver, Johnny has consistently demonstrated commitment and dedication to excellence, which is demonstrated by and outstanding driver record, years of service and professional attitude. Through this annual contest, professional drivers are recognized for their commitment to the profession by maintaining high standards that enable them to have records that are above average. The professional truck driver is the foundation of the trucking industry and this program specifically recognizes the men and women who are behind the wheel of a truck each and every day. The Iowa Truck Motor Association and the Iowa Council of Safety Management are the sponsors of this award program.
